I remember having a big 2-12 Fender cabinet, my first "good" amp was that with a BF Bassman head, way before cordless screwdrivers were available, I used my dads yankee screwdriver to take off and reinstall the back on the cabinet, that's a lot of screws to do by hand! Looking at the inside pics of both cabinets it appears that there is a piece of wood attached to the plywood in the blond cab that the back screws into, it's missing on the black cab, should be an easy fix, just screw a cleat into the plywood and then you'll have something to screw the back into. Supposedly the insulation makes the cabinet "sound" bigger, you could swap the insulation from one to the other and see if it makes any appreciable difference. The black cabinet should have screws for the middle, but they might not make much or any tonal difference and the insulation is missing. Some nice looking gear, especially the Bandmaster, I've seen a lot of old amps that are rougher than that one. It also does not have any insulation/filler, should it? The middle piece of wood looks to have been replaced with a small piece of plywood. From the photos you can see that no screws are down the middle of the back. Haven't had a chance to check the resistance on this cab. The speakers are Pyle (1098) full range speakers, I think. I also got another Fender cabinet in the trade. If I remove all or some of the insulation will it be less boomy? There are lots of insulation squares inside the cabinet. The speakers are Oxford 12L6N-15/12L6N-HX98 - reconed. ![]() The Bandmaster cabinet is a little boomy. Inside the chassis is very clean and the tube sockets are also very clean. The tremolo is freakin' awesome! This is a nice sounding amp. There is a little noise from the tubes, but haven't had a chance to do any investigation on which one(s) they are. Has had a cap job and 3 prong power cord installed, though it doesn't appear it was installed in a safe way because the death cap is still there. Traded some gear I wasn't using for a rough looking Bandmaster 6G7-A.
